When you are taking the time to reflect on what you want to create in the new year, remember to consider WHO you want to be and HOW you want to feel when deciding WHAT you will do.
Then, once you make your list of goals:
- Cross items off your goal list that do not excite or inspire you. Thinking about how you will feel when you complete any goal should make you smile. Otherwise, you are probably trying to accomplish something you feel you SHOULD which will only make you angry and keep you from being who you want to be.
- Limit your goal list to 3 work-related goals and 3-personal goals that can be accomplished THIS YEAR. Planning to do too much will also leave you feeling overwhelmed, frustrated and depressed. No one is chasing you. If you don’t take time to enjoy the journey, the joy with reaching a destination won’t fulfill you.
- Every day ask yourself, “Who will I be today?” and “What do I need to do feel like who I want to be today?” In the end, success is all about the energy you project. Your state of being is more important to your success than the words you say and the tasks you finish. Success often depends on how you show up, your presence, the WHO you are being.
Have a great year. May you find the puzzle piece that you’ve been missing to make your life feel whole and happy.
